About Suzie de Jonge
Having to write your own bio is the weirdest experience. How do you sum up X number of decades in X number of lines? So, I will try my best in the only way I know how – with my own slightly quirky slant on it.
I am Suzie de Jonge. I am a daughter, a partner, a mother (to one treasured two-legged daughter and two four-legged foofy ones), a sister and a friend. A few personal things about me also. I am a Snoopy/Peanuts tragic, an avid fan of Kath and Kim and my favourite time of year is Christmas. I also follow and have found my true home in the principles of A Course in Miracles.
I have had several reinventions over my lifetime, as I am one of those strange creatures who actually enjoys change. My background has varied from working in hospitality, human resources, health care, running my own businesses, one in medical transcription and the latter as a life coach, and finally I trained as a therapist and clinical hypnotherapist.
My latest reinvention, however, is as a writer, something I had forgotten how much I enjoyed as a child, using it as a creative outlet for all the imaginings and conversations that go on inside my head.
I have written a book called The Untangling which was published in April 2022, by The Kind Press, which is a chronicle of sorts, but also something that I hope more than anything can support others in their own journey of self-discovery, and free them from their own ties that bind them. That’s what the process of writing it did for me.
My greatest love, however, is writing from a perspective of humour, lightness and joy. I write about everyday things that everyday people just like me experience and that is where I feel most at home.
I have also launched my own podcast The Untangling which I am so excited about! It is available on both iTunes and Spotify. Other than writing, I love interviewing and speaking at events.
My second book Musings of a Menopausal, Insomniac, Crazy, Dog Lady is now complete and due to be published by The Kind Press in March/April 2025 - I am so excited! I have also finished co-writing a screenplay based on The Untangling - a dramedy (think menopausal Bridget Jones!) and am hopeful to have that on the big screen one day soon.
My life is overflowing with joy!
Nice to meet you!
